Accelerated technological and economic developments have an impact on social and environmental aspects. Deteriorating environmental condition due to exploitation of business activities and social disparity are serious issues that must be resolved together. The United Nation (UN) held conferences attended by UN countries’ representatives with the aim of formulating a series of global development targets that can overcome economic, political, social, and environmental challenges or what are commonly referred to as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs inclusively involve all stakeholders in achieving sustainable development goals. SDGs link business strategies to global priorities and serve as a framework or guideline by embracing the 5 (five) fundamental principles that harmonize economic, social and environmental aspects, namely People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership.

Accounting plays a substantial role in the world’s transformation towards sustainable development by paying attention to the 5P principles. While it is a global act, the implementation of SDGs also recognizes the valuable role of each country. Each country is expected to tailor the targets and strategies of SDGs implementation in accordance with local context and needs, in line with its spirit of patriotism. By integrating 5Ps into accounting practices with a spirit of patriotism, accounting becomes a powerful tool to drive positive changes and contribute to the well-being of people, planet, prosperity and peace as a whole. Embracing these principles facilitates partnership that can promote positive changes and contribute to a more sustainable and just world.

In an attempt to improve the role of accounting in accomplishing sustainable development, the Regional Accounting Conference (KRA) as a international conference will present the results of scientific researches with the theme of “The Role of Accounting in Transforming the World Towards Sustainable Development with 5P (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership): Spirit of Patriotism!!!”.  As an annual event, International Conference KRA XI collaborates not only with local universities but also with foreign universities. This event is organized by the Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants, Education Accountants’ Compartment (IAI KAPd) in collaboration with the Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya as the host, a nationalist campus with patriotic values located in Surabaya.

International Conference KRA XI 2024 will be an appealing forum for academics and practitioners from local and international universities and institutions, to discuss various empirical and practical studies in accounting and finance. The forum will certainly play a role in generating various insights and solutions to the challenges of the world transformation.
